We certainly have some low-file, ragamuffin trash on the
soc.genealogy.britain newsgroup.

Recently, it was Roy Stockdill telling us he is a bastard.

Now, Alan Holmes tells us HIS father was a bigamist.

Hilarious!

Can anyone suggest why my Great Aunt's father-in-law appears to have
married twice, to the same lady, 12 months (-ish) apart and in different
districts?

My father commited [sic] bigamy by marrying someone whilst still being
married to my mother, but it wasn't one sided, [sic] the woman who [sic]
he married was already married to someone else as well, so she was a
bigamist as well!

Alan

Hilarious!

I can see why you Brits NEED a Class System to sort people out.

What does this have to do with sci.military.naval, us.military.army or
history.war.misc? Are these newsgroups just places for you to vent your
personal grievances and homophobic tendencies?

Well, I'll admit it, since it is at SMGF anyway.

One of my male ancestors may have been a bigamist. Or else,
he was a philanderer. He had two families at the same time.
And ... worse ... I'm descended from
him through both women. At least ... the junction point is
several generations back. Oh yes ... he was Irish.

According to family lore, my great grandfather on my maternal grandmother's
side killed a man in Texas, had to leave town in the dark of night, and
could only visit his family thereafter by occasionally returning home
surreptitiously. Every family has stories like Alan Holmes's, Doug's, and
mine -- sometimes more than one. About all it amounts to is that it gives
DSH a chance to get pompous -- well more pompous than usual. :)

Not True, Renia -- as I've told you and the others many times before.

So, you're lying on that score.

I simply have an excellent memory.

I remember what folks have said previously even when THEY don't.

That often makes them look like fools -- which they indeed are.

So, five generations back.

I'm afraid I can't offer anything so interesting.

My own parents are merely 17th cousins, twice removed.

You are so far removed from your father in so many ways - are you SURE
you know who your parents were - or are you the product of a quick
knee trembler your mother had to pay for the milk bill one week?
