Sir John Gayer's will left £2,000 "unto the children of my Cousin John
Rither, deceased."

It seems very likely that this "Cousin John Rither" was the minister,
Mr. John Ryther of Frodlingham, Bromby, Allerton, etc.:

The biography of Rev. John Ryther in the new ODNB contains little
information on his family, noting that he was "son of John Rither (d.
1673), a tanner of York who later turned Quaker," and mentioning that
"Ryther and his wife, Margaret, who survived him, had one son, John
[see below], and a daughter, Rachel Dale." His will of 1681 mentions
his "honoured mother."

The will of Sir John Gayer gives "[u]nto my Cousin, Rachel Dale, if she
be alive at the time of my Decease, Ten Pounds Sterling."

So this is clearly the same family.
