Sir Roger Boys (d. 1422) is stated in the Boys pedigree on page 43 of
Rye's edition of the Visitations of Norfolk to have been a son of Roger
Boys and his wife Margaret.

A record at the Norfolk Record Office, indexed on the Access to
Archives website, gives a different father for Roger:

'FILE - Note of Will - ref. Phi/456 577 x 8 - date: 1422
[from Scope and Content] Note of the will of Roger Boys knight that in
the event of the death without heirs male of their bodies of his sons
Thomas and Robert, the advowson of Hoveton St. Peter should be given to
Ingham Priory on condition of the establishment of a perpetual chantry
for the souls of Roger, Peter and Margaret his parents, and Sibill his
wife; and similarly that the manor called Grossez in (Holme) Hale
should be settled on the Priory to bear the charge of purchasing
clothing (described) for the prior and brothers and to provide a mass
on Monday after Trinity at the altar of St. Paul for the same souls and
those of his brother Miles, Margaret his wife, Miles de Stapilton the
father, Dame Joan his wife, Master Miles the son, and all brothers and
sisters of the Fraternity of Ingham (will proved 1422 - Norwich
Consistory, 96 Hyrnyng).'

Can any newsgroup readers provide additional information about this
Peter Boys, stated here to have been the father of Sir Roger de Boys;
and the implied (if any) relationship between the Boys and Stapleton
families?

Thanks,
Matthew
