Comparing the two webpages below, we get some idea of the ancestry of
Mr. Francis Foxcroft of Boston, who is referred to in a 1742 record
from A2A as one of the "great grandchildren of Francis Layton, late of
Rawdon, Esq., dec'd" (see under "Spencer-Stanhope Manuscripts") --

The two small further details I can add at present are --

1. The extracted IGI has the marriage of Daniell Foxcroft and Martha
Layton, 9 June 1652, at Adel, Yorkshire.

2. The page below, from Google Books, shows the wife of Francis Layton
of Rawdon (or Rawden) to be Margaret, daughter of Sir Hugh Brown,
citizen and vintner of London.

Also, the "Grace dau. of ...Platts" in Dugdale's pedigree would appear
to be the Grace Gawkroger (sometimes Gawkroger-Platts) bapt. 5 sep 1558
in Halifax Yorkshire and married to Daniel Foxcroft. She was daughter
of Richard Gawkroger and Isabel.

See Torrey, Mary Gawkroger, pps 1-2.

But there, Torrey qualified the proposed marriage with a "perhaps." In
any case, he surely got the dates both of her baptism and of the
marriage of Daniel Foxcroft, on 25 Oct. 1580, from the parish register
of Halifax -- in one form or another. The specific records are printed
in E. W. Crossley, transcr., _The Parish Registers of Halifax, Co.
York_, 2 vols., Publications of the Yorkshire Parish Register Society,
vols. 37, 45 (Leeds, 1910-4), 1:114, 2:99. Whether you credit this
filiation with the Grace at the head of Dugdale's pedigree, of course,
ought to depend in part on the chronology and on whether you'd expect
these sorts of alliances between families in Leeds and Halifax.
