Charlotte,
Know I have mentioned the possibility that Nicholas de la Beche married
first Joan Etchingham by whom he had no heirs.
This wording seems to be more of a confirmation.
CPR 9 EDII, Pt. II. 1316 May 20. Westm. License for William de Echyngham to
enfeoff Martin, parson of the church of Echyngham, of his manor of Pekedene,
held in chief as of the honor of L'Aigle (Aquilla), as appears by an
inquisition made by John Waleweyn, king's clerk, escheator on this side
Trent; and for the said Martin to re-grant the same to him, for life, with
remainder to Nicholas de la Beche and Joan his wife and the heirs of their
bodies, with remainder, failing such issue, to the right heirs of the said
William.
What do you think?
Pat
