http://Www.prattens.co.uk/families/parker/trees.txt contains the following
stemma for Greene of Gressingham, apparently based on W.H.
Chippendale's "History of the Township of Gressingham" (1919 or 1920);
my notes are appended

1. Benedict de Gressingham, had issue:

[NB VCH Lancs Vol 8 sub Gressingham contains considerable information
about the de Gressinghams, extending back to Dolgin de Gressingham ff
1184 and Kettil de Gressingham who held two oxgangs at Gressingham in
1203; Benedict de Gressingham appears to have been descended from the
latter, but the genealogy in VCH is disjointed and names are repeated
within the family, making it difficult to place any one member.]

2. Hawise, heiress of one corate of land; married - del Grene; had
issue:

[VCH: in 1346 one William del Grene held property in Gressingham; "the
only other noteworthy family (in Gressingham) was that of Green, whose
estate was called a manor"; Thomas del Grene of Gressingham was
appointed in 1343 to arrest various men indicted of felonies &
trespasses - Cal. Pat. R., 20.12.1343; the same received a pardon for
all felonies etc in England on account of his good service in France -
Cal. Pat. R., 20.11.1346]

3. Mathew del Grene, of Gressingham; complained 1352 of Adam de
Southworth distraining his cattle; had issue:

[VCH he was grandson of Benedict de Gressingham and ff 1352]

4a. William del Grene, ff 1389; married Agnes "daughter of Sir Richard
Hudleston of Whittington"; had issue:

[NB A Thomas de Grene was parson of Whittington in 1401 - VCH]

5a. -- Grene; had issue:

6a. William Grene, granted his manor to brother John in 1447 (sic);
died 1499; had issue:

[VCH: In 1479 (sic) William Grene granted his manor at Gressingham to
his brother John - Add MS 32108, no 1422; William Greene died 1499 -
IPM Duchy Lancs III, no 31, 84: heir: granddaughter Elizabeth]

7. John Grene, ovp; had issue:

8. Elizabeth Grene, heiress to her grandfather; born circa 1489;
married Edward Parker and had issue.

[Elizabeth Greene married Edward Parker in 1501]

6b. John Grene

5b. Thomas Grene, complained in 1441 of his land being depastured; had
issue:

[VCH: Thomas Grene ff 1441]

6. Alice Grene, married "Richard Docura"

4b. Thomas del Grene, "pardoned in 1346 for staying at Burton"

[Apparently an error: see note above for 1346 Cal. Pat. R. entry]

The arms of the Greenes of Gressingham are to be found of the Docwra
memorial in Lilley church, Hertfordshire.
