It was a little interesting to me to note that Christopher and Alice's
first child was Jeremiah Temple, born (? baptised) 6 Oct. 1686 at
Dunstable.

The extracted IGI shows a baptism at Berwick upon Tweed, 29 July 1659
of Jeremiah, son of Toby Temple. Toby also had a son called
Christopher, baptized 25 October 1653 in the same place.

Note that a Toby or Tobias Temple was present in New England in the
early 1660s. See _Records and Files of the Essex County Quarterly
Courts_, 3:12, 19.

Two flaws with this theory:

1) Toby/ Tobias is not seen in New England records after 1662.

2) EQC records show that the Giffords' apprentice Christopher Temple
was aged "about twenty" in 1677.

John,

__ Early Generations of the Founders of Old Dunstable: Thirty Families __ by
Ezra Stearns p. 29, says her parents were Richard and Joan Hassell of
Cambridge, Billerica and Dunstable. Her birth isn't listed in those towns,
so I'm not sure what his source was. Torrey's marriages, on pg. 732, also
identifies Alice as a Hassell. I believe that the Torrey CD that is out now
has his sources on it, so that might be a place to check.

Stearns also wrote, "Obadiah Perry and Christopher Temple dyed by the hand
of our Indian enemies, September, the twenty eighth day in the morning."
This was in Dunstable on 28 Sep 1691. Obadiah had married Hester Hassell,
Alice's sister. And Obadiah's sister Anna had married Alice & Hester's
brother Joseph.

Alice (Hassell) Temple's second husband was Jacob Kendall, whom she married
in Woburn on 10 Jan 1694/5. She was his second wife.

Hope this helps a bit.
