It was found by inquisition before Alexander Aune, escheator in the
county of Kent, that Lewis Clyfford, knight, William Brenchesley,
William Makenade and William Wenlokwere seised of the manor of Bocton
Aluph and of the advowson of Bocton church pertaining to the manor in
their demesne as of fee, of which manor one third is held of the king
as of the honour of Boulogne, and so being seised granted the premises
to Elizabeth, since deceased, late the wife of Thomas Tryvet, knight,
for life, with reversion to the said grantors in fee. Whereby she was
seised, and afterwards Lewis Clyfford, William Brenchesley and William
Makenade died, whereby the whole right of the reversion accrued to
William Wenlok, who, on 6 April, 1 Henry V, granted the said reversion
to Eichard de Beauchamp son of William de Beauchamp late lord of
Bergevenny, John Grendore, knight, ThomasWaleweyn, John Harewell,
Thomas Harewell, and Eichard Pepur,and the heirs of the body of the
said Eichard de Beauchamp, with remainders to Joan his sister and the
heirs of her body, to Elizabeth her sister and the heirs of her
body,and in fee to the said Eichard de Beauchamp, John Grendore,
Thomas Waleweyn, John Harewell, Thomas Harewell and Eichard Pepur,to
whom Elizabeth, the tenant for life, attorned. The said Eichard de
Beauchamp had issue Eichard his son, and the latter had issue
Elizabeth, still surviving, the wife of Edward Neville, son of Ealph
late earl of Westmorland, to which Elizabeth, by the death of her said
father and grandfather, which occurred in the lifetime of Elizabeth
the tenant for life, the right to the said reversion descended. The
king's licence was not obtained in these matters, and on the death of
Elizabeth the tenant for life, the premises were taken into his hands,
but he, for 12 marks paid in the hanaper, has pardoned the trespasses
done in the matter, and granted that the said Edward and Elizabeth
shall hold the premises to them and the heirs of her body.

grant of John Stablegate to them, their heirs and assigns; with
remainder to John Crane and William Arderne, clerks, William Makenade,
Stephen Bettenham, William Cheyneof the county of Sussex, Richard
Makehurst, William Bertyn, Thomas Marchant, Richard Brenchesle, Henry
Malveysyn, Henry Gotelo and Richard Huntyngdon, their heirs and
assigns; and after she had entered the other remaindermen released all
their right and title to the said Richard Brenchesle, who granted the
premises, "by the name of all those lands, tenements, rents,
reversions, farms and services, which Joan late the wife of William
Brenchesle, knight, held for life in the parishes or towns of
Brenchesle, Pepyngbury, Capele, Tudule, Tunbrigg, Hadlo, Ealdyngge,
Horsmondenne, Goutherst, Bylsyngton, Rokyngge, Aldyngton, Smethe,
Broke, Seyntemariecherche and Newecherche or elsewhere in the county
of Kent, whereof the remainder after her death pertained to him, to
Stephen Bettenham, Thomas, his son, William Cheyne of the county of
Sussex, Henry Hoorne, John Martyn of Derteford, Richard Wakehurst,
Thomas Elys, Thomas Marchant, Thomas Hordenne, Simon Cunghurst,
