Pushing the matrilineal line back another generation: Agnes

I've mentioned my earliest known matrilineal ancestor several times:
Agnes, daughter of Rev. John Hart of Taughboyne/Taboyne/Monreagh in
Ireland. See http://tinyurl.com/jl4zx .

A nice lady from Nova Scotia who shares this matrilineal line emailed
me to point out that "[t]he wife of Rev. John Hart was Agnes Baxter,
whom he married in 1644. [Scotts. Fasti II. 2, 260, 421, 786]."

This marriage is in the extracted IGI:

Edinburgh Parish, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland [surely the church
has a proper name?]

Johnne Heart to Agnes Baxter, 2 April 1644

Up to now I 've been a little bored by Scottish genealogy (though not
as bored as by Welch!), but I 'm starting to take a greater interest.
Does anybody have thoughts about Baxter and Hart families in Edinburgh
in the early modern period? I 've listed the Baxter and Hart marriage

helps provide linkage:

Up to now I 've been a little bored by Scottish genealogy (though not
as bored as by Welch!), but I 'm starting to take a greater interest.

Of course that should be "Welsh." I remember thinking of the maiden
name of Mrs. Laura Bush as I typed that line, in one of those weird,
stray linkages the brain sometimes makes.

My cousin got her data from a book of handwritten notes on ministers
kept in the Linen Hall Library, Belfast. Here is what it said about
Mr. Hart --

1271 Hart, John; b. Scot. 1616; ed. St. And.; M.A. (St. And.) 1637;
ord. Crail (2nd charge) 22nd Mar. 1643; m. 1644, Agnes Baxter; res.
1646; in Dunino 30th Dec. 1646; res. 1650; in Dunkeld 1650; joined the
Protestors (1651), & was dep. 1652; in Hamilton (2nd charge) 2nd Jan.
1653; res. 1655; in Taughboyne (Monreagh) 1656; recd. £150 a year
(afterward higher) from Protectorate; dep. for nonconformity, 1661, but
contd to minister; imprisoned in Lifford (1664-70) for disobeying a
summons issued by the Bishop of Raphoe (Robt. Leslie) to appear before
his Court; fined £20, & imprisoned eight months, because of his
connection with a day of fasting & prayer (17th Feb. 1681) appointed by
Laggan Pres[bytery].; d. 8th Jan. 1687. "A learned & truly eminent
Minister, & was constantly employed by his brethren in all their
affairs of moment & intricacy." [Scott's Fasti II. 2, 260, 421, 786]
No. 611 was a son-in-law [in another hand: Robert Craghead].
