Does anyone have any information as to the name of the daughter of
William II of England (Rufus), son of William the Conqueror, who
married Hubert de RIE, and/or their descendants.
The Peerage of England, vol 2, page 8, says:
"In the reign of Edward the Confessor, Hubert de RIE, a trusty servant
of William, Duke of Normandy, was employed by him to that King when
laying on his death bed, in a sumptuous embassy, and returned to him
with these tokens...etc ... Hubert de RIE afterwards marrying the
King's (Rufus) daughter...[he] had several children by this
wife.....from whom the family of the Rye's are descended"

Rufus never married, and as far as I know he had no known illegitimate

"Except for one Berstrand who is mentioned in an unreliable
eighteenth-century source as an illegitimate son of Rufus, there is no
evidence for any royal bastards during the first thirty-five years of
Anglo-Norman Rule."
