Hi Charlotte,
Is this the one which can be found at
http://www.kentarchaeology.org.uk/Resea ... %20025.htm
or do you have another translation?
Also, found this today.
http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report ... mpid=38189
This mentions Joan in 1458 but it relates to the chantry she willed to
be set up.

Re: Re: Joan wife of William Brenchsley was *dead* by 1446
The will in the Kent section is not a complete will but an abstract. The
real handwritten will can be found in the book The church of SS peter
and Paul Bexhill and on page 80-81 is the translation and the original
will. Although written in English it is old english script and if
enlarged can be read somewhat. I am sending by attachment a copy of
this will to you as I cannnot get it onto the group page for some
reason. I have found all the will on the Kent page are abstracts and
not complete. In 1458 her execuators no doubt had funded the chantry
and it was being built or dedicated. She deceased in 1453.

Thanks, got it. Can't read much of it but I will put it through some
enhancement software to see if I can get a better image out of it.
Somewhere, though I can't find it at the moment, I have see a record
of the permission given to set up the chantry. Will post it is I find
it.

Ok, I've cleaned up the image and enhanced it a little. I can read
small parts but Im not very good with handwriting (tooooo many years

So, I've uploaded both the image you sent me and the cleaned up
version so that anyone who wants to take a closer look can do so.
