I found an advertisement on the internet for a home at New Pond Road, Benenden.
It has a picture and states the history of the house.
Mentioned in the doomsday book, the house was held, at the time of Edward the Confessor to Osie. It was passed to Wm the Conqueror;s half brother, Odo, Bishhop of Bayeau, with the Earldom of Kent. The present house, which is believed to date from somewhere between 1370 and 1410 is understood to have been built by Sir William Brenchley, now buried in Canterbury Cathedral. Previous owners of this properety have included the Earl of Abermarle, Lord Roothermere, Dame Elizabeth Norris and the Countess of Ewe. The house was once the principal property of esatate which exceeded 6000 acres. price pounds 2, 240,000

Here is another connection for Wm Brenchley and Benendon.
