From the article: Stained Glass Windows of Nettlestead Church--Suissex Arc Soc.

page 329: There are the arms of Sir William Brenchley and his wife Joan, the daughrer of Sir William Batisford. Sir William Brechley was a Justice of the Court of Common Pleas. By his marriage he became conneted as shown above(arms of Brenchley and Batisford) with the families of Cheney, Fiennes and Etchingham etc

Through the Ceneys, Brenchley was connected with the de Pympes-------Land that belopnged to Sir Wm de pympe and after hm to Reginald de Pympe passed on the death of the lattter in 1438 to John Brenchley, the son of the judge, Sir Wm Brencheley resided in Brenchley. etc etc.

It also states: Sir Wm died in 1406 and his wife 40 years later. They were buried in the same grave in the Canterbury Catahedral.

I think only 1 Wm Brenchley , judge , and he married Joan Batisford. Lots of land and activity in the A2A files for Joan. If anything he might have been married before, but no proof of this. Of course, we have Joan married first to John de Codying before marrying Batisford.
