Is a "moiety" joint ownership?

If someone gets a "moiety" in property this means a "portion" like one-half
or one-third ? Does this mean the heirs are jointly owning the property ?

Or does this mean, they drew a line through it and said, the east half is
yours, the west half is mine?

Thanks

A "moiety" is a one-half undivided ownership in any kind of property.
Joint tenants hold moities.
