Hiwis, Blanchmister, Turet, etc.
Today I came across a pedigree in Misc. Gen. & Her. that traces the
Coplestones of Devon from the marriage of Robert Tresilian to Emeline de
Hiwis, daughter of Richard de Hewis and Alice "Blanchmonster" (sounds
like something in Ghostbusters). I note that the Blanchminsters were
discussed just over a year ago, and their connection to Turet was also
mentioned.
A Google search turns up the following book which may prove illuminating:
Goulding (R.W) Compiled by, RECORDS OF THE CHARITY KNOWN AS
BLANCHMINSTER'S CHARITY. In the Parish of Stratton, County of Cornwall,
until the year 1832. With introduction and notes on the families of
Turet, Blanchminster, Hiwis and Colshull. Stratton and Bude: 1898
Does anyone have access to this work?

In a more modern connection, John Coplestone and Elizabeth Hawley are
ancestral, via the families of Hillersdon, Croker, Bulteel, and Baring, to
the last several Earls Spencer (the family of Princess Diana). A Baring
daughter married the 6th Earl Spencer.

A guess is that Matilda, daughter of Sir Alan Blochow, would be the Bloyou
family covered in Trigg Minor I:155, III:71? Also think they are mentioned
in Whetter's book on the Bodrugans.
