I've written before about John Giffard's group of investors in Cheswick
or Chiswick Ironworks at Lynn, including Catherine (Bourchier), widow
of John Eaton, and her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and John

Volume 52 of the Camden Society Publications is John Yonge Akerman,
ed., _Moneys Received and Paid for Secret Services of Charles II. and
James II._. Pages 97 and 99 mention John Dodsworth and his wife
Catherine:

Payd to several persons for the respective causes, uses, and purposes
undr-menc'oned, ... on the 12th of December 1684 ...

To John Dodsworth, husband of Katherine Dodsworth, al's Eaton, admx of
the good and chattels of John Eaton unadministred, in part of 1,082 li
8s 10d for lace and other things bought of the said John Eaton, for the
wedding cloaths of the Ladys Litchfield and Sussex by the Dutchess of
Cleaveland ... 182-0-0


Payd to several persons for the respective causes, uses, and purposes
under-menc'oned, ... on the 15th day of Feb'ry 1684-5 ...

To John Dodsworth, husband of Katherine Dodsworth, al's Eaton, admx of
the goods and chattels of John Eaton remaining unadministered, in
further part of 1,082 li 8s 10d due to the said John Eaton for sev'al
laces and other things bought of the said Eaton by the Dutchess of
Cleaveland, for the weddings of the Lady Litchfield and Sussex ...

As Charles II's daughters Lady Litchfield and Lady Sussex seem to have
been married after the death of John Eaton the father (wasn't Catherine
[Bourchier] Eaton called a "widow" circa 1674?), I wonder if Catherine
Dodsworth al's Eaton wasn't the administratrix of the estate of her
brother, John Eaton the younger (Gifford's original contact in this
family), as well as of her father, the elder John Eaton ...

Although both John Eatons would have been dead at the date of marriage
of the Countess of Litchfield (Feb. 1677), so it's puzzling ...

Well maybe the 1,082 li. of lace was all purchased at the time of the
first marriage (1674), but used for both (1674 and 1677) ...

The Giffords had L2 worth of "Black lace, Gimp & silver lace" stolen
from them in 1677 ...
