Dowse-Mundy connection

I think Martin Hollick once mentioned that the parents of his
ancestress Elizabeth Dowse were Thomas and Susanna (Mundy) Dowse. Page
114 of the 1623 Berkshire Visitation ("Mundy, of Bagshot") might be
worth checking out, as it shows a Mundy family with a previous
connection to some Dowses...

Oddly, some of these Mundys had an association with the Rev. William
Wilson (d. 1616), prebend of St. George's, Windsor, ancestor of the
Wilsons and Whitfields of New England.

His year of death was apparently 1615, rather than 1616. According to
the Monuments of St George's Chapel, Windsor, by S.M. Bond (Windsor,
1958), the text of his monument, as recorded by Ashmole, read:

"Here underneath lies interr'd the body of William Wilson, Doctour of
Divinitie and Predendarie of this church by the space of 32 years. He
had issue by Isabell his wife six sons and six daughters. He dy'd the
15th of May in the year of our Lord 1615 of his age the 73, beloved of
all in his lyfe, much lamented in his death." This bore the two coats
of arms, one of Wilson, and the other of Wilson impaling Woodhall.

Next to this is the grave of his father (according to Ollard's Deans &
Canons of Windsor), the incription for which read:

"William Wilson, late of Wellsbourne in the County of Lincolne, Gent,
departed this Lyfe within the Castle of Windsor, in the year of our
Lord 1587, the 27th day of August, and lyeth buried in this place."

Additionally, one of the younger William's sons was also buried in his
grave, the plate having read:

"Neere unto this place lyes buried William Wilson the third son, who,
after a long tryal of greivous sickness, did comfortable yeild up his
spirit in the yeare of our Lord 1610, of his age 23."

Ollard adds that William Wilson was appointed Canon of the Third Stall
at Windsor on 10 December 1584, and details his other cures and
appointments. Foster apparently confirms the death date of 15 May 1615
in detailing his vacation (through death) of his prebend in St Paul's.
