According to Roskell et al, History of Parliament (House of Commons)
1386-1421 Vol III, Richard Haselden, MP, of Steeple Morden & Guilden
Morden, Cambs, married firstly (by May 1379) Elizabeth, daughter and
heir of Sir Stephen Turberville of Shillingstone, Dorset and Little
Chesterford, Essex; she was the mother of his son and heir, Thomas
Haselden.

This marriage is refered to in the Visitations of Cambridgeshire as
published by the Harleian Society.

One of Roskell's sources is the Essex Feet of Fines, Vol III, p 202:

"1385: Michaelmas & Easter: Thomas Haselden the elder and Thomas
Bedeforde, plaintiffs, Richard Haselden and Elizabeth his wife,
defendants, re the manor of Ockeforde Skylling [ie Shillingstone] and a
moiety of the church there, Co Dorset, and the manor of Little
Chesterford and the advowson there, Co Essex: defendants and heirs of
their bodies hold the manor of Ockeforde Skylling and a moiety and the
remainder of the manor and advowson of Little Chesterford which Eleanor
late the wife of John Battail the elder holds for life, with further
remainder to the right heirs of Elizabeth."

Perhaps Eleanor was the widow of Sir Stephen Turberville, and married
John Battle after being widowed.

Roskell also cites Morant's Essex, ii 557, and Hutchins' Dorset, iii
445, which presumably give further details of the Turberville family.
I will try to get to these during the week. It would be interested to
ascertain how this branch of the Turbervilles fitted into that Dorset
family.

Morant gives no additional details of the Turbervilles, and his account
of the Hasildens is at best confused. I have not yet seen Hutchins, but
Ollard's Dorset only mentions the Turbervilles by name en passant.
