Ellen de la Roche

Hello

I'm exploring some of the interesting links from women who married into
the Clinton family. When I got to Ellen de la Roche (d. 1440) who was
the mother of Joan Ferrers (wife of John de Clinton 5th Baron) I notice
that the sites of Tim and Leo only go as far back as Ellen's parents
Thomas Roche and Elizabeth Birmingeham (daughter of Sir Thomas
Birmingeham). I'm doing my best to only go with well documented sites
so wondered if this is because little is known about her Ellen's
ancestry? I browsed through another site which looked promising with
links back to many more de la Roche people and with Fulk of Bermingham
and Whitacres but I don't think it was well sourced and wondered if
that was wishful thinking? Has anyone any more information about Ellen
please?

Best wishes
Sue

Dear Sue ~

As far as it goes, all of the online databases have pluses and minuses.
Also, I find that some of the people responsible for databases are
more willing to make corrections than others are.

I might recommend Jim Weber's and Hal Bradley's databases. Here are
links which can connect you to Ellen de la Roche in their databases:

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bi ... &id=I24823

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com ... .htm#12525

It goes without saying that you need to verify anything you find in
anyone's online database, including Jim's and Hal's. Regardless, Jim
and Hal have a great deal of valuable information in their databases.

Good luck in your sleuthing!
