[TL Smith:]
AuchterMay's review of Rohl's book brought back some pleasant memories!
I
was almost convinced that he was on to some valid insights in his
correlation of Egyptian events with those in the Bible. I became very
enthusied years earlier about Immanuel Velikovsky's reconstruction of
Egyptian and other ancient histories. But most if not all of his
historical theories have been discredited. He claimed that early
Pharaohs
were shown about 400 years EARLIER in conventional accounts than was
the
case. Several books later and near the end of his career, he had never

achieved closure on his theories. The only point of similarity I found

between Velikovsky and Rohl is that both place the Exodus at around
-1450
just BEFORE the invasion of the Hyksos - V. says the relevant Pharaoh
was
Thom or Thoum; Rohl makes it Dudimos (whom conventional chronology
places
around -1674!)
