Dear Newsgroup ~

William II, Count of Holland, King of the Romans (died 1256), referred
to Johann I, Margrave of Brandenburg (died 1266), and Otto III,
Margrave of Brandenburg (died 1267), as his kinsmen by marriage
("dilectorum principum et affinium nostrorum") in a document dated 1252
[Reference: Monumenta Germaniae Historica (Diplomata Regum et
Imperatorum Germaniae 18 Pt. 1 (1989): 236-237]. King William's wife,
Elizabeth of Brunswick, was the niece of Johann I and Otto III of
Brandenburg.

King William's sister, Aleida of Holland, wife of John d'Avesnes, Count
of Hainault, is ancestral to Queen Philippe of Hainault, wife of King
Edward III of England.

Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah
