King's Kinsfolk: King Stephen's kinsman, Hugh, Abbot of Cher

King Stephen of England, died 1154, referred to Hugh, Abbot of Chertsey
in Surrey, as his kinsman ("nepos meus") [Reference: VCH Surrey, 2
(1967): 55-64, citing Cott. MS. Vitel. A. xiii. f. 57; see also
http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report ... mpid=37813). Hugh served
as Abbot of St. Benet's, Holme, 1141-1149, and as Abbot of Chertsey,
1149-1162. The two men were uncle and nephew, or related in the 1st
and 2nd degrees of kindred, by virtue of common descent from Etienne
dit Henri, Count of Blois and Chartres, died 1102, as charted below.

Adele of England.
2. King Stephen of England, died 1154.
