Know I've heard the name Guthlac Overton in connection with the
late-medieval ancestry of some New Englander. I suspect the following
reference is actually to this Overton ...
_Lists and Indexes_, 50:57:
--John Godard of Ogbourne.
--Guthlake ...rston
--Action on a bond for rent of part of the manor of Temple Rockley,
which plaintiff has paid to the prior of the Hospitallers as the
superior lord.
Is Guthlake [...]rston actually Guthlake Overton?

Apparently so. The document cited above is in the Public Record
Office's collection, reference C 1/803/31, dated 1532-1538.
There is a second PRO document at C 1/1521/57, also dated to the reign
of Henry VIII, which is indexed as follows:
"Thomas GODDARDE v. Guthlake OVERTON.: Manor of Rockley (Temple
Rockley). (Bill, faded).: WILTSHIRE"
I have a large collection of Goddard papers which may contain
additional information.

Guthlac Overton is in the ancestry of the Bulkeleys. He married Olive
Browne. Olive's mother was Isabel Sharpe. In addition to the Bulkeley
Genealogy, there were articles in TAG, vols. 35 & 36 by John G. Hunt on the
Overton family. The archives contain some further ancestry on the Sharpe
line by J.C.B. Sharp. See http://tinyurl.com/jkafc in response to some
comments by Don Stone.
