BRERETON family

Can I please ask if any of the Brereton family researchers have any details
on Randle Bruerton/Brereton who has a will listed in Moreton (Cheshire
Indexes) in 1608, although I'm not sure yet the date of his actual death.
I've just sent off for this will.

In William Fergusson Irvine's "Registers of the Parish of Bidston", he says
that Margaret nee Hockenhull was married four times, to an Edward Marten,
John Jones, to an unknown Brereton, probably of Moreton, and last to William
Fells.

Of a certainty, she had a daughter Katherine, who married as Katherine
Brereton to Henry Willcocke on 6 October 1615 in Bidston, but now I'm
wondering whether it was Katherine, (rather than Margaret nee Hockenhull),
who married first to (?) Brereton, and then secondly to Henry Willcocke.

In Margaret (nee Hockenhull's) 1623 will, she leaves bequests to John, Mary
and Thomas Brereton.

I would be very pleased to receive any help.

Regards,
Yvonne Purdy (nee Sherlock)

The late Patrick Montague-Smith' mother was a Brereton. He was so fond of this ancestral line that he named his home 'Brereton'. I should think that searching his published pieces would be fruitful. Since he was editor of Debrett's for years, that might be a good place to start.
