'Anglicanizing' would be something Church of England missionaries do!

Not only probably them but the Anglophilics, too.

The word you want is 'anglicize', I would use 'anglicise'. 'Anglican'

refers to the Church of England. Also, when you say 'anglophilic' you
really mean 'anglophone'. -Matthew

Anglophone ??!!

In my daughter's school dictionary I found anglophobia-anglophilia
(nouns); anglophobe-anglophil (adjectives).
And I was really surprised with 'anglomania' (but there was not
'anglomaniac').

'Anglicise' sounds doubtful as I found 'to anglicize' but also
'anglicism'.

Francisco

Dear Francisco,

'Anglophone' means English-speaking: 'phone' is from the Greek word for
voice, as in telephone. 'Anglicise' is the British spelling, the US
spelling is anglicize. -Matthew

Anglicise is the British spelling.

In Canada, French-speakers are called francophones and English-speakers
anglophones.
There is a third category called allophones.
