Copinger notes the following pedigree for the Aspall family of Stonham
Aspall, ancestral to the Tibetots, beginning with two brothers:

1a. Sir John de Aspall, living c1290

1b. Sir Roger de Aspall, living c1290; Lord of Stonham Aspall; died
1312; issue:

2. Sir Robert de Aspall; PROCAT: E/40/185-: release by Ralph the Prior
and the Convent of the Holy Trinity by Alegate for L40 to Sir Robert de
Aspale, knight, heir of Sir Roger de Aspale, lately deceased, of all
their right in the houses in St Clement's Street, London, by Candlewick
Street, which Sir Roger bequeathed to them by his will; Saturday the
morrow of St Margaret, 7 Edward II; according to the website for Beck
Row Parish Council, he was the eponymous owner of Aspal's Hall,
Mildenhall, and a co-executor to the Countess of Norfolk in 1322-3;
died circa 1326; issue:

3. Sir Robert de Aspall; either he or his father was Knight of the
Shire for Suffolk, c1326/7; presumably the one of this name Justice in
Eyre, Hampshire, 4 Edward III (PRO E32/163); he and his wife Alice
named in a feoffment of 27 May 1322 [Suffolk Record Office, HD
1538/305/2]; married Alice "daughter of Sir Hugh Crepingham" - i.e.
Hugh de Cressingham, Edward I's treasurer of Scotland, killed at
Stirling 1297, illegitimate son of William & Emma - see ODNB; issue:

4a. Sir John de Aspall; married Elizabeth

4b. Thomas de Aspall, Sheriff of Hants, 19 Edward III (PRO E358/2);
married Mirabel Wake - see Douglas Richardson's post re Wake, 26.9.2002
for details and issue

[4c. Elizabeth de Aspall, married firstly John de Wauton; married
secondly John, 2nd Lord Tibetot - see CP sub Tibetot]

NB care must be taken to distinguish the Suffolk de Aspalls, who had
property in London, from the London de Aspales, whose surname is
apparently a version of "de Hospedal"
