Rose Knevitt or Knyvett

Burke's Peerage 1999 page 2950
Michael Beresford married Rose Knevitt, daughter of John Knevitt, they are, of course, the ancestors of the Marquesses of Waterford, Gateway ancestor William Brodnax and as well of the Bush presidents.

On 18 January 2006, in a private e-mail, I asked Paul Reed for advise as I was sure that the surname of Rose was Knyvett, not Knevitt as well as in regards to other aspects in relation to her.

Paul Reed gave me some additional information, which will end up in Genealogics, probably with the next update. Paul explained to me that Rose was already married, and therefor not mentioned when her step-father made his will dated 15 April 1569 and proved 23 June 1570, Prerogative Court of Canterbury, 20 Lyon.

He explained this as this places the marriage of Rose before 15 April 1569. This is important as Rose's son Tristram was born in 1574 (BP 1999 page 2950) and I know only of two sons of Rose Knyvett and Michael Beresford, the second I know is Cornelius Beresford whose daughter Dorothy married Major John Brodnax.

I could have placed this information on Genealogics before, and then it would have shown up on the update of 10 February, but Paul asked me to hold off for a moment. Mainly because there are still too many details about Rose and her parents missing. When was Rose born and when did she die? The same applies to her husband Michael Beresford. Would anyone know?

With many thanks.

Is there any difference between Knyvett and Knevitt?
