Victoria married Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Her son Edward VII

his younger brother, George V assumed the throne, just before the First

Actually the house name was not changed till 1917, and George V was the
younger son of Edward VII, not his younger brother. The elder son had died
before Edward VII became king.

You're confusing the next Edward-George succession, here. George V was SON of Edward VII, (Bertie, to his intimates). Edward VIII and George VI were sons of George V.

renamed

to. get rid of the German-sounding name of 'Saxe-Coburg & Gotha', just as the Tecks, changed that name to 'Cambridge', and the Battenbergs became 'Mountbattens'.
The house of Hanover still exists, (descended from the fifth son of George III. Its current head is Ernst August, titular Duke of Brunswick, and King of Hanover. He is the husband of Princess Caroline of Monaco.

Re: Hanover - Windsor
"William IV died in June 1837 without leaving an heir" is untrue. He
died without a legitimate son. But he had two heirs:
His brother Ernst August succeeded in Hanover.
His neice Victoria succeeded in Britain.
