RE: Updates to website victorian county histories
Chris,
Thank you for posting this.
I have reviewed this list but I was already aware that the LDS family
history centers do not have volume 9 of the Victorian County histories.
Do you or any other person out there know where I can find this volume 9!
Very sincerely,
Ray Montgomery

The volumes are separately numbered for each county, so it's important to
know which county you're interested in.
If you have access to WorldCat at a local library you should be able to see
which other libraries hold the volume you want. Otherwise there is a simpler
version, "Open WorldCat", freely available through the Internet:
http://www.oclc.org/worldcat/open/tryit/default.htm
You could try entering the exact title, author(s) and date of publication
(as phrases - enclosed in "..."). These are now given on my website for each
volume. It may take a bit of work, because libraries often have incomplete
holdings, so you'll have to make sure you have't found a different volume
for the same county.

No need for apologies. If you put the phrase "A History of the County of
Gloucester" together with "Herbert" into the Google search form on the Open
WorldCat page:
http://www.oclc.org/worldcat/open/tryit/default.htm
then it gives various possibilities. If you are in the USA it looks as
though you'll have to specify the name of your state when searching.
You will need to do a bit of digging to make sure the library holds volume 9
(published in 2001), as many holdings are incomplete.
By the way, are you sure about "Alderston"? It doesn't appear on the list of
contents for that volume (though there is a "Cold Aston").
