I'm interested in discovering the origins and any other possible thing
about this traditional English ballad: The Bonny Swans. These are the first
lines if you don't remeber them:
A farmer there lived in the north country
a hey ho bonny o
And he had daughters one, two, three
The swans swim so bonny o
These daughters they walked by the river's brim
a hey ho bonny o
The eldest pushed the youngest in
The swans swim so bonny o
I tried to find on the Web information about this, but I didn't read
anything of interesting. I only know that this is a ballad.
But is its text Medieval? In which century you suppose it was written? Do
we have news about the author? Where can I find the original text?
If anyone could answer just one of these questions...thank you!
Bye
