PA2 p. 217 and RPA p. 448 say that William Greville (d. 1513),
of Arle Court in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, Justice of the
Court of Common Pleas, married "_____, daughter and heiress
of John Arrell, of Arrell" (sic; Arle). This is wrong. Robert
Greville, older brother of the Judge, married the daughter and
heiress of John Arle of Arle Court, but Robert sold the manor
to the Judge. "Old Arle Court," BGAS 26:288, 299; "The Manor
of Charlton Kings, Later Ashley," BGAS 54:145, 158; Harl. Soc.
21:70; Fosbrooke, _Gloucester_ p. 374.

The wife of William Greville the Judge may have been
Marjory Slaughter, but I have seen no proof of that.

I believe you are mixing up two different females.

(`1) Robert Greville, b: c1465, Arle, Worcestershire, d: 7th Feb 1548 and
buried inside church at Charlton Kings, GLS, 2nd son of Richard Greville and
wife Eleanor Herbert who lived in Manor of Upper Lymington in 1492 ( from
visitation of Worcestershire 1659), (brother of William), married as his 1st
wife, c1491 to Margaret Arle, daughter of John Arle. (2nd wife was Jone )
Margaret & Robert had 2 issue, (a) Francis b: c1494 married Mary Rainsford
(b) Margaret or Maria b: ?? ; married John Westby.

My Notes on him *** Upon Marriage to Margaret, he gained Arle Court.
Eventually it passed to his brother William (Judge of Common Pleas) Approx
1520, Sir Edward Greville transferred the Charlton Kings and Ashley Manor
properties to Robert. Will dated 7/2/1548 and was proved before 25th March
1548 (GRO 1548/76) Buried inside of Parish church Charlton Kings although
there was a family vault at Cheltenham.(CK 1548/9) Surname also shown as
"Grevyle" on will.
Charlton Kings church has been rebuilt numerous times and nothing is now
visible of any Greville burial in that church. (seen 2004)

(2) William (Sir) Greville, b: c 1464, d: 7th March 1613 Arle Court
Worecestershire, 1st son of Richard Greville and wife Eleanor Herbert ,
Justice of the common pleas, Married c1494 Margery Arrell, and they had 3
issue (a) Ellinor b: c1495; who married Robert Vampage (b) Margate b: c1497
d: c1542 ; married Richard (Sir ) Lygon & (c) Alice b: c 1499 married
RobertWye.

My notes on him **** There is a Brass in Parish Church of Cheltenham on top
of vault. One of the "Foeffes" of Richard Beauchamp Lived Arle Court
Cheltenham, purchased it (Arkle court) off brother Robert.
General Source is Visitation of Worcestershire 1659 Justice of "The Common
Pleas""The Judge"
See also Hockaday extracts Hockaday #147 (Also shown as "Greyville" )

I have no Marjory Slaughter for any of that family

The Edward Greville mentioned above re the transfer to Robert is Husband of
Dame Anne Denton and my notes on him are
Ashley Manor and interests at Charlton Kings (Cheltenham, GLS) were
surrendered to Edward (Sir) Greville #(D1224 No13) from John Westby (Edward
Tame actually owned them D1224 No 8 c1503) and Sir Edward was still in
possession in 1520 when he mortgaged them for £400. His wife Ann (nee
Denton) and Son & heir John also went guarantors of mortgage repayment
(D1224 No15&16)
Above Manor & interests were transferred to Robert Grevill(e) and his heirs
in c1520.
Edwards Will made 21/6/1528 proved 1/10/1529 (U269 T246/2). Edward b: c1474
Milcote, Waerwickshire, d: c1528/9 Weston on Avon.Warwickshire and is buried
in West church upon Avon, Warwickshire
Edward Knighted 13/10/1513
Married Dame Anne Denton c1499 at Milcote, Warwickshire.
