Subject: Henriette Marie's autograph

Dear Leo

I think this should at least be posted:

Every autograph of Henrietta Maria that I can recall seeing in the course of researching a dissertation on the lady was clearly signed "HenrietteMarieR", definitely with all the letters running on into each other as one continuous name. No break between the elements, no hyphen.

This means that editors are silently amending this by giving her name as "Henriette Marie". This is no different in principle from the conventional amending of the name to Henrietta Maria.

Anyone who insists on calling the queen what she indubitably called herself must settle for the compound "HenrietteMarieR". Anything less would be inconsistent with the latest (and all-but-silliest ever) Richardson rule of thumb.
