Jacob de Rochelenge was born about 1605 in Belgium (then France), he
married
Catharina von Brinken Einhaupt and had several children, among whom : John
Adam, Martin Jürgen and Barbara Marie. There was also a Marquard de
Rochelenge in Norway at that time, but I don't know how he was related to
Jacob. The latter and his
sons were all military officers in Norway.
I've found the village, Rocklenge, near Liège and I believe they came from
there.
I've found their armories and it's a blue unicorn on a golden background,
over the helmet there's a crown and the forepart of another blue unicorn.
Is there anyone here who can help me to find out something more about their
ancestors?
Thank you if you can.

I suppose you mean Roclenge-sur-Geer, between Liège and Tongeren.I have a
database with more than 25000 names (many from that area) and I can't find
any noble person of that name. Please note that Roclenge (from 980 to 1794)
was not part of Belgium or of France but of the Bishopric of Liege ,
independent state ruled by the Bishop of Liege,Tongeren,Maastricht but
depended from the Holy Roman Empire. The names you quote in your post sound
German.(e.g. Jürgen) Though situated at the so-called 'language border'
(French/Flemish) When I have time ,I'll try to find some details about the
history and the armories of that village.

Yes, that's what I mean.
Thank you, I didn't know it was independent.
I looked it up on Google, where I found some referred to as 'de Rocklenge'.
It's true that Jürgen sounds German, but what we know is that they first
went to Latvia and the way the name is written could have been influenced by
this.
I have a drawing of their armory and from
http://gallica.bnf.fr/
I see that this family 'de Rocklenge' in Kurland /Courland, Latvia, had
more or less the same.
"Courlande: d'or à une licorne saillante d'arg. C.s une tête et col de
licorne d'arg."
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: From Belgium via Latvia to Norway
PAtrick, do you have a Joseph Hardie (HArdick) in your database? I have him born in 1752, Liege, he was married 1800 in Trondheim, Norway.
We do not know anything about him.
