Master of Requests

Does anyone know of a source of information about the post of "Master
of Requests"? If I understand correctly, this was the officer who
weeded through requests made to the king. I have never seen a list of
the holders of this office, or any description of the position more
than a sentence long. Is there a reference work or other source of
information?

Thanks.

There is a list of Masters of Requests, with some introductory information,
in the "Office Holders in Modern Britain" section of the Institute of
Historical Research website:

Thanks Chris, that's a terrific website. Glad I found out about it.
However, the period I am investigating is late-15th early 16th century.
Any ideas where I could get information about the masters of requests
for that period?

I'm not sure about that. It might be worth trying E. B. Fryde et al, ed.,
Handbook of British Chronology (London, 1996), but I'm not sure whether
that covers the office or not.
