Citing some transient posting in the archive

Being new to this group - and I was encouraged because the archives are
interesting - I would like to know how to cite an old posting viz.

Dare I assume, you have a Sewall or Lowe connection? Please email
me if you are researching these lines, as I have a bit that may be
helpful. For that matter, perhaps you have some findings of note as
well? ...... [etc]<<

Since you hide addresses from free loaders, porn merchants and other
riff-raff how do I find out who hails from Thermopylae@aol.com or is he
amongst the Spartan dead and no longer has an interest in the Sewalls
of Coventry and Maryland?

It is much more interesting and beneficial for everyone if you address
your query to this list aka newsgroup. Then everyone can both
contribute and benefit and the sum of human knowledge is thereby
increased.

That way it doers not matter what the person's e-address is.

In this case, the hiding is being done by Google Groups, I think. You should
be able to see the full email address by clicking on the dots in the middle
of it, and then doing a little test to prove you're not a robot.

There wouldn't be any point me posting his email address, for the obvious
reason, but he is still active on the group and may respond himself.

Dear John (R),

I noted your post from last week, and wanted to advise that I
have yet to be hauled home on my shield at present. And, I still
retain my interest in the Lowe and Sewall families.

~ Also, please note there are several list members who likewise
have an interest in (and considerable knowledge concerning) these
families and their ancestry; any query you might have concerning which
would have a greater chance of bearing fruit by a wider sowing.....

So please, fire away. Should you shoot so many questions as to
blot out the sun, so much the better: we shall answer them in the
shade.

Cheers,

John

(Apologies John, I accidentally replied direct to your email rather
than the newsgroup - here it is again...)

Dear John

I have a Derbyshire LOWE line that I haven't looked at for years, and
whilst
not strictly back to mediaeval time yet, your post has reminded me of
it.
The earliest reference I have is from Tideswell parish register of
1645,
with the baptism of "Adam Lowe fil Ellese". I have been unable to take
this
line any further back. Whilst I don't expect I will be so lucky that
you
have any information on Ellese (Ellis/Elias?) himself, any information
you
may have on LOWEs living in or around Tideswell any time from the 17th
century backwards would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
Mark Allen
