Searched gazetteers for France already.
Googled, and first 50 hits - all genealogy, not one extolling town's
virtues, tourism or whatever!
Make me wonder about the name "Munchensy"

tenant-in-chief in Suffolk though an important tenant of Robert Malet,
was a Norman, from Mont-Canisy, Calvados, cant. Douvres-la-Délivrande,
comm. Bénouville. She does not give him a birth date and says he died
as a monk of Abingdon in 1117.

Recte:
He died at Abingdon in the time of Abbot Faritius who died in 1117.
Hence Hubert died by 1117.

Re: Where's Munchensy?
Slight correction. Should be Montecanisio rather than Montecasino.

Dissertation on William de Braose
Matthew Boulter has recently completed an MA at Sheffield University. As
part of his work he produced a dissertation on the life of William de Braose
(d1211) and has kindly agreed to make it available for others to read via
the Braose website.
I am sure there are many here on soc.gen.med who will be interested to read
it.
You can access his work via the News page of the website. See
