On Leo's great website here
http://www.genealogics.org/getperson.ph ... 3&tree=LEO

we see John Broughton b 16 Nov 1512
son of
Anne Sapcote d 1559
daughter of
Sir Guy Sapcote
son of
William Sapcote
son of
Alice Vaux
daughter of
Nicholas Vaux, 1st Baron Vaux of Harrowden (~1460-1523)

Five generations in 52 years is not possible. Can anyone correct this line?
Thanks
Will Johnson

Dear Will,

Cahiers de Saint Louis gives Alice Vaux only one child and this is not
William. I have disconnected him from them.
Many thanks
Leo

Dear John ~

You are correct. After reviewing the chronology, I re-considered the
Vaux-Sapcote connection and dropped it from my manuscripts. This is an
instance of where a visitation record is in error.

This Sapcote descent is likely from the 1613 visitation of Huntingdonshire,
but as you indicate it has chronological problems. The specific problem
appears to be the parentage of William Sapcote, who clearly cannot be the
son of Sir Richard and Anne (also called Alice) Vaux. This has been
discussed before in Gen-Med, most recently in 2004. This also raises doubts
about the parentage of William's brothers, who also have some intereting
descendants.

FWIW, back in July 2003 Douglas Richardson also posted this connection
between Vaux and Sapcote, but it does not appear in either of his later
books RPA and MCA, so I guess he must have re-considered the connection....
