Sir John Maclean covered both marriages of Sir Anthony Poyntz in his
"History and Genealogical Family of the Family of Poyntz", originally
published in 1886 and reprinted in 1983.

Dear Will,

I have a few questions.

Ronny Bodine in his superb book on ancestors of Dorothea Poyntz gives

Sirf Anthony Poyntz, born ca.1480 died 1535. He married secondly by 1510
Elizabeth Huddesfield who died before 12 April 1527.

You say that Sir Anthony Poyntz married Joan Vaux before 20 February 1522.
To accomodate this, Elizabeth Huddesfield has to die before 20 February 1522
and Joan Vaux is the third wife (who was the first?).

You are probably aware that Sir Anthony Poyntz and Elizabeth Huddesfield
also are ancestors of Prince Charles? As well as of Tim Powys-Lybbe and Tony
Hoskins.

Best wishes

Maclean says that Elizabeth Huddesfield was the 1st wife of Sir Anthony
Poyntz. Does Ronny Bodine's work give any support for saying that she was
his 2nd wife? (I gather from your note that he doesn't say who the first
wife was) I wonder if he mistakenly thought that Joan (Vaux) Guildeford was
the 1st wife.

FWIW, a small follow-up---

DNB 16:277-8 has this to say about Sir Anthony Poyntz and his marriages:

"He died in 1533, having married, first, Elizabeth, daughter of Sir William
Huddesfield; and, secondly, Joan, widow of Sir Richard Guilford [sic]."

So three of the four sources cited in Ronny Bodine's book for Sir Anthony
Poyntz don't support the conclusion reached in that work regarding his
marriages. I suspect he misread the pedigree in Maclean's work....
