Reynold FitzPiers d 1286

Stirnet shows that Reynold had two wives. First an Alice, and secondly a
Joan de Vivonne, or Fortis, daughter of William Fortis de Vivonne, Lord of
Chowton d 1259

My question involves the ascribed son of this second union Peter FitzReginald

This son married Alice Broadspear and a son Herbert FitzPeter
who then married Margaret Walsh and had a son Adam FitzHerbert
who then married Christian verch Gwaring and had Jenkin ap Adam

I know these names all all messed up with the Fitz and ap and I have to
figure that part out. But my question is, is it certain that Peter FitzReginald
was a son of the second wife and not the first? And if so, how is this certain?

The chronology that I have so far (which I didn't post yet) says this doesn't
work.

Thanks

Dear Will,

Did the Herberts definitely descend from that family? Bartrum has a
Welsh ancestry for them:

Godwin 'Iarll Cernyw' d.1199
Herbert of Cilleculum 1207
Cynaethwy 1198=(2)N ferch Rhys Goch ap Richard
Adam=Cristin ferch Gwarin Ddu ap Iorwerth
Jenkin of Wernddu=Lowri ferch Philip ab Adam Fychan
Gwilym ap Jenkin 1345, d.c.1377
(etc.)

According to AR7 261-33, this Peter Fitz Reginald is different from the
one who married Alice Broadspear. Peter, son of Joan de Vivonia and
Reynold Fitz Piers, was born about 1274, died 18 Nov 1322, and married
Ela de Martel, dau. of Roger Martel of Hinton Martel.
