This is a little further proof (besides Hartley's book) that Mrs.
Margaret Gifford was alive as late as 1701 ...

I can't speak to Mrs. Gifford, but given the occasional ambiguity
between written 'S' and 'L', are you sure this is "Security to Save the
Town" and not "Security to Leave the Town", which would seem to be more
in character with a Warning Out.

"Save harmless" is a legal formula, whereas "Leave harmless" is not ...
