I have also included a brief, possible connection of a
matching family that came from France, to the Channel Islands.

I now have some 20,000-25,000 Names in my research.
My research only consists of: L^xfer meaning
a shepherd or dweller by the bulrush or wild iris, of the house
with the outside spiral staircase that came from France

B) LAVERS from France to England

1. ??? father and mother = had several sons/daughters
Around 3 brothers went to England about 1560.
Family memory states:
They were descended from Mediteranean Teutonic knights in armour.
left Constantinople 1380, went to Greece then Italy 1425 ,
imigrated to France 1460 some imigrated to England 1560
Christopher LAVERS with family escaped into Channel Islands 1572

2. ??? father and mother had several sons/daughters - one was named
Christopher / Nicholas / Nichi LAVERS { or Nicholas leLIEVRE }
born 1556 Brittany, France
Had an older brother that went to England after 1565.
Family memory states:
During the night of August 1572 - St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre,
somewhere in the area of Saint Malo, Brittany, France,
this LAVERS (or leLIEVRE) family escaped persecution,
with that which they could pile into an unknown size fishing boat,
into the British Channel Islands, Jersey.
It is said, they were falsely placed amongst the Huguenot
movement. They were of Catholic descent.
At first they were housed in Church crypts
on Jersey as Undertakers - Grave Keepers.

3. Christopher LAVERS {Nicholas/Nichi} x Joann SHINT Jersey
There are no LAVERS in the Channel Islands. Only the family of:
Michel leLIEVRE and Jeanne leGENDRE - records prove this.
This is the brother of Pasquier leLIEVRE.
It is said, that Christopher's father and mother died 1615,
and is buried on JERSEY.
Christopher/Nicholas and Joann were the parents
of several children.

William Cornelius born abt./after 1625
Jersey went to Totnes
During this time, family memory states: Queen Elizabeth I,
set up a goods manufacturing grant. This family became
leather dressers, making leather products from
goat and sheep skins.
Around 1588-1590, there was a fisherman named, John LAVERS
that helped take food out to Francis Drake's men, when they held
off the Spanish armada. After the year 1615, Elizabeth I died,
between 1625-1630, the grants were cut off from the
Channel Islands. Around 500 refugees, including the family of
Christopher (were ? farmed out) moved from Jersey to
Tatness Castle (Totnes), Devonshire, England as tenants of land.

Around 1688 - William C. was a seaman and navigator assistant
on a vessel that landed Overlord William III at Torbay, England.

they later moved to Kent, England.

I also found a record of a Francis Tito leLIEVRE and Sauvin leLIEVRE

Years later, about 1789, William George and James John were
employed by the Hudsons Bay Shipping Company.
By 1790, family memory states:
they were sent to Quebec, Canada about a wrecked vessel.
When they came across the Atlantic, they went aground within the
Straits of Bell Isles. They then made their way in a dory to
French Cove, Bell Island.
William George couldn't find a vessel back to England,
so he went to Halifax, Nova Scotia. While there he married 3 times.
James John later settled at Port au Croix, NFLD.

NOTE: I may have found French Cove. At that time, the area of Cove's,
including Flowers Cove, didn't go by those names.
The area was called French Island Harbour.
Seal Islands was called French Island or Cove.

I'm afraid I have no answers for you, but I have a Guillaume LeLièvre
born circa 1607, the son of Jacques LeLièvre/Antoinette Bougard of the
Honfleur or Dieppe region of Normandie, and was wondering if they can be
connected to this family.
