I did, however, fail to see the significance of the point made by the
Christmas genealogist to contradict the hypothesis that the Christmas
surname derived from a man born on Christmas Day, that the name appears
as "Chrystmasse" in early records (Oh, that's completely different!?!?).

And that that spelling 'perhaps indicates a Norman origin'! He may be

in for some disillusionment (or perhaps he was just misquoted).

"Chrystmasse" - isn't that simply redolent with Normanity? I hesitate
to mention Occam's razor is a thread entitled 'Father Christmas' but...
