Dear Leo Van De Pas:
I am certain that you consider yourself wise and
tolerant.
However your title "Richardson at it again" tells me
that "Leo at it again".
Do you realise that you and Peter Stuart have been
complaining about Richardson hundreds of times over
the past two years. You repeat yourselves just like a
worn out recording machine. I even have private
emails from you regarding Richardson!
What is the problem Leo?
You have expressed an opinion, right or wrong, a
thousand times. Surely Leo once is more than enough.
If you are correct about Richardson, allow the man dig
his own grave.
Why don't you and Stuart take a deep breath, go for a
holiday, and stop this foolishness. Currently you two
give me the impression that you are both malicious and
mentally retarded; an impression which I trust is
incorrect.
Best Wishes
Paul Bulkley

Re: Richardson at it again
Dear Paul,
If your concerns were genuine, you would/could have made a private approach.
As your concerns seem less than genuine you leave me no option but to reply
to you publicly.
First, I think you owe, as a genealogist, to give people there correct
names. My name is Leo van de Pas, not Van De Pas, I would not have remarked
on this had you given Peter Stewart his correct name.
It is not that Richardson is at it again. He is still at it, that is the
problem.
Richardson has no respect for the rules/requests of Gen-Med.
Richardson has no respect for the people on Gen-Med.
He cannot as otherwise he would take notice of what people have asked him.
Telling Todd Farmerie to get back into his box because, as a trained
historian and genealogist, he knows better. Let alone the many times it has
been said that Richardson should not advertise/promote his wares and
services, he keeps on doing it.
I agree it is a minor thing, but while doing it he insults, by not
mentioning, the works of Gary Boyd Roberts, Weis and Faris.
I think he has displayed the same disregard for medieval Latin and French,
Peter Stewart (not Stuart) has pointed this out on several occassions.
You give me the feeling you prefer mediocrity, mediocrity as long as it
comes with peace. Doing a job to the best of people's ability is not
appreciated when it comes with unkind words.
If only the unkind words were taken to heart and no reasons were given for
repetition. Many times have I defended Spencer Hines by saying look at
_WHAT_ he says not _HOW_
So kind of you to bring up your concern about both Peter Stewart and myself
being malicious and mentally retarted. Especially when others on Gen-Med
have spelled out the mental disease they believe Richardson suffers from.
Malicious? Over the years, more than just the last two, Richardson forced me
to ask him for an apology on more than one occassion. Once his apology (in
regards the matter of Jacques Saillot and Cahiers de Saint Louis) seemed
quite genuine, the second time he apologised to "my website" not to me.
Malicious? He accused Peter STEWART, Tim Powys-Lybbe and myself of arguing
_all the time with everyone_ to the point he was feeling sorry for _our
victims_. He still has not substantiated his accusations, let alone
apologised for it.
A minor point? I do not think so. Through my own website and a rootswebsite
I receive many requests from people and I do not appreciate it when my name
is bandied about as a brawler. Who was the bar room brawler again? And where
did he apparently brawl?
In your kindness you suggest that Peter Stewart (not Stuart) and I take a
deep breath and go on a holiday. It seems you have not noticed the absence
of Peter Stewart, he has taken that deep breath and gone on that holiday,
and has left us to the mediocrity you yearn for.
Is it foolish to aim for excellence? You said it, you obviously aim at
mediocrity as long as it comes with peace for Richardson.
I wonder where are those French, Polish, Scandinavian and Dutch people who
used to join us.
As you said, Best wishes and I hope you enjoy the mediocrity.
