Dear Newsgroup ~
Sir Richard de Burgh (died 1326), 3rd Earl of Ulster, married shortly
before 27 Feb. 1280/1 Margaret _____, of uncertain parentage. In
earlier messages, I've posted evidence which gives indirect support for
John Carmi Parsons' identification of Margaret as daughter of Count
Arnoul III of Guines, by his wife, Alice de Coucy.
Margaret de Burgh is known to have been a member of Queen Eleanor of
Castile's household. Her name, for example, occurs as one of the
ladies of the court in the record below which relates to the court kept
by King Edward I and Queen Eleanor of Castile at Rhuddlan Castle in
Flintshire during the summer months of 1282. The charges below appear
to be for a four day return trip from Wales to England which took place
in September 1282. The trip proceeded from Rhuddlan to Flint, Chester,
Wich [Northwich] and Macclesfield.
"For a cart with two horses, hired for the baggage of Margaret de
Burgh, for the said four days ... 3/4"
"For a cart with two horses, to carry the bagge of the Maids of Honour
of the Queen ... 3/4"
"For a cart with four horses, hired the the carriage of the baggage of
the Queen's wardrobne, for the said four days ... 6/-" [Reference:
Journal of the Flintshire Historical Society, 5 (1915): 91-94].
For interest's sake, the following is a list of the numerous colonial
New World immigrants who descend from Margaret, wife of Sir Richard de
Burgh, 3rd Earl of Ulster:
Robert Abell, Elizabeth Alsop, William Asfordby, John Barclay, Charles
Barnes, William Bladen, George & Nehemiah Blakiston, Elizabeth Bosvile,
William Burnet, Charles Calvert, William Campbell, Grace Chetwode, St.
Leger Codd, Francis Dade, Humphrey Davie, Edward Digges, Thomas Dudley,
Archibald Dunlop, William Farrer, Thomas Gordon, Elizabeth & John
Harleston, John Henry, Warham Horsmanden, Patrick Houston, Anne
Humphrey, Robert Hunter, William Keith, Hannah, Samuel & Sarah Levis,

Richardson at it again Re: Margaret, wife of Richard de Burg
What are the points of this message?
1, John Carmi Parsons identifies - Richardson supports
2.trivial details about the life of Margaret, giving "reasons" (?) for
Richardsons message
3,a list of Gateway Ancestors descending from Margaret
4.Richardson's sales pitch : See Douglas Richardson, Magna Carta Ancestors
I believe the only reason for this message is point four. All Gateway
Ancestors, no doubt can be found in Gary Boyd Roberts's books, but no, he is
not mentioned, let alone Weis or Faris the message is look at Douglas
Richardson.
As I have said before Richardson, over several years, has done more harm
than anyone else to gen-med. Sadly people who criticise Richardson in turn
have been attacked and driven away, together with many others objecting to
the atmosphere created and sustained by Richardson......
