Adelaide del Vasto aka di Savona
Hi.
I have Adelaide del Vasto (ca 1100-1135) as 3rd wife of Roger I de
Hauteville (1031-1191), count of Sicily, and later 3rd wife of king
Baudoin I of Jerusalem.
Does anybody know her relationship with Bonifacio del Vasto?
In some texts she is said to be cousin of Bonifacio di Incisa,
Bonifacio's disinherited son, created signore di Gravina by king Roger
II of Sicily.
Thanks

According to Europaische Stammtafeln Adelaide de Savona (not del Vasto) is a
daughter of Manfredo, Margrave of Savona. Sadly there seems to be very few
details available about her ancestors.

I should have ALSO said that they state this title was in fact granted IN
1130 by the Pope.
As you have said. So I guess before this he was "Count" of Sicily or
something, my text does not say.

Re: Adelaide del Vasto aka di Savona
Hi, thanks.
1191 was a trivial mistake, you are right.
In the meantime I found out the following
Marchio Tete (aka Tetone), descendant from Anselmo II of Savona,
married Berta, daughter of Olderico Manfredi, marquis of Turin. They
had four sons.
1) the well known Bonifacio del Vasto ("marchio de Vasto", as
indicated in all original documents - Savona and Vado were the
preferred seats of the family), who is the predecessor of many
aleramian families (marquis of Busca, Saluzzo, Clavesana, Carretto,
etc). He married trice:
A) Y, widow/fiancèe of his brother Anselmo (their son Bonifacius di
Incisa was disherited, but later restored in his properties by
Federico Barbarossa)
B) Alice, daughter of Pietro I di Savoia
C) Agnes de Vermandois
Bonifacio's sons are:
1.1) Ottone Boverio, count of Loreto (in Piedmont)
1.2) Enrico il Guercio, marquis of Savona
1.3) Bonifacio, marquis of Cortemiglia
1.4) Anselmo, marquis of Ceva and Albenga
1.5) Ugo, marquis of Clavesana
1.6) Guglielmo, marquis of Busca
1.7) Manfredo I, marquis of Saluzzo
2) Manfredus / Maginfredus marchio de Vasto (1040-1079)
3) Anselmo
4) Oddone
Manfredo del Vasto had two sons
- Adelaide del Vasto
- Enrico del Vasto, later count of Butera

Re: Adelaide del Vasto aka di Savona
On my website is a small biography for this Roger and this tells that he
assumed the title of king in 1130 and was crowned by a representative of the
anti-pope Anacletus. However, in 1139 he captured the real pope Innocent II
and "treated him with such reverence that the pope rewarded him with the
titles of King of Sicily, Duke of Apulia and Prince of Capua."
Hope this helps.
