Lovely to have the stories about scoundrels in the wine trade in the 15th
century

Does anyone have any information about a store of wine (either a 'cave' or a
'cuve') in London emanating from the Cistercian abbey of Grandselve
(Tarn-et-Garonne, SW France)? The abbey was founded in the mid-12th
century, and disappeared with the Revolution. Bearing in mind that vines
take a fair time to produce anything worthwhile ie drinkable, it could be a
century later. The monks built their own port at Grenade-sur-Garonne, and
the wine would go downriver to Bordeaux.

The local History group in Verdun-sur-Garonne of which I am secretary is in
the throes of putting together a book about the history of the abbey, and it
would be wonderful if we could confirm this rumour about 'our' wine in
London so early

Thanks
