The alleged Wrenthorpe ancestry of the Manninghams of Wrestlingworth,
Beds, is in part supported by the content of the History section of the
following website, which cites references:

From PROCAT:

E40/5797:

Grant by Robert son of Roger de Wyverunthorp, to John, earl of Warenne,
of all the land &c. which he inherited from his father in Scambenedene;
in return for which the said earl has released to him part of the rent
which he used to pay for tenements in Wyverunthorp, Wakefeud, Stanleye,
Linleye, and Ossete, and has also granted to him land in Wyverunthorp
called 'Cristescroft': [York.]

I should have added that the above PROCAT reference is dated Sandale,
Wednesday before Michaelmas, AD 1284.

And these:

"Robert son of Roger de Wyrenthorp, quitclaimed to Adam his son all the
right which he had in the messuages, lands and tenements etc which the
said Adam held of his feoffment in Wyrenthorp, Stanley, Wakefield,
Osset, Lynley, Quernby and Erdislow. Dated 1342"

"Adam de Wrenthorp came into the court and did fealty for [the]
tenements which he had of Robert his father in Wrenthorp, Linley and
Stanley and had day until the next court to shew what tenements they
are and by what service he held them of the Lord"

[Wapentake of Abrigg, Court held 18 Edward III (1344-5)]

To convert medieval dates, I use the helpful book, A Handbook of Dates,
Revised edition, 2000, edited by C.R. Chenry, revised by Michael Jones.

To obtain a copy, go to the following URL:

You can buy a used copy for as little as £14.
