Can anyone explain how I could have been unsubscribed from the group for the
last week or so without me doing the unsubscribing? Noone else uses my
computer. Ihad recieved no messages for a week or so, so I resubscribed today &
as is usually the case immediately started getting messages from the group.
Thanks

I have been unsubscribed from various Rootsweb mailing lists over the
years. The reason is that sometimes their e-mails don't get through
and are bounced back to Rootsweb. After one or two of these, the
Rootsweb computer automatically takes you off the mailing list.
Your e-mails go to you at AOL. It may be that AOL was giving Rootsweb
some grief. In the past AOL has been known to blacklist Rootsweb and
refuse to accept any e-mails from Rootsweb, all because of some spam
complaints.

Actually four. The subscriber is then sent a message telling them they
are being unsubbed, but it usually also bounces.
Usually it is one of three things - your mailbox is full, your ISP's
mail server is malfunctioning, or they are intentionally blocking.
First try resubscribing, and if the problem recurs, contact the
listowner for reason reported for the bounces (if it doesn't recur, it
is usually a one-off kind of thing, and not worth the time and effort it
would take to figure out what went wrong).

One other thing that can be done to check on your list status is to go to
the Rootsweb page at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ and follow the
instructions on how to get a list of lists (That sounds confusing) that
your are subscribed to by email address.
Hope this helps
