Good day,

I hope there is a subscriber to this list, who is able to help me.
I am looking for the ancestorss of

Bertha de Toulouse,
born on ?? (in the year 777) in Toulouse (Fr).
She was married in the year 795 to PEPIN, king of Italy, born in April 773 in Aachen (Deu), christened on April 15, 781 in Rome (It), died on July 8, 810 in Milano (It), buried on July 11, 810 there, son of CAROLUS MAGNUS (CHARLEMAGNE) and HILDEGARD VON VINTSCHGAU (Vinzgau??))

Father: GUILLAUME DE TOULOUSE. Unfortunately no details.
Mother, grandparents and older ancestors: still unknow to me.
Who can help me in adding some of my ancestors to my pedigree.

Thank you very much for answering my question.

In this instance, no-one can. I suggest that you dispose of whatever source
you found these details in, as they are not reliable.

First, Guillaume de Toulouse did not have a recorded daughter called Berta,
although he had a sister of this name (who was not married to a
Carolingian).

Secondly, Charlemagne's second son Pippin, king of the Lombards, who died on
8 July 810, was buried in Verona and had not been married in 795.

Thirdly, his concubine, the mother of his known children, was named Rothais,
not Berta. She was a close relative of Adalhard, abbot of Corbie, but her
parentage is not recorded.

Fourthly, she is not known to have been born in 777, nor in Toulouse. Very
few females of her time from any origin, and few enough royal males, can be
given a year or place of birth with any degree of certainty. If you find
such improbable details given for most individuals in a book, article or
database, I suggest you would do well to dispense with it immediately, for
that reason alone: people who fill in bogus information for the sake of
completeness are not genealogists, but fantasists.
