I wasn't previously aware of this and have enjoyed looking
around this afternoon. Thanks so much for posting it. When
I searched on my maiden name, got over 1400 entries! So,
I'll have to be more specific in the future! Lol.

Thanks again. Ginny

Thanks again. Ginny

You're welcome. Since many of the books contain pedigree charts, if
you do a search for the word "pedigree," you'll come up with a good
list of the majority of titles (10,000+ entries).

They even have a book that I have myself of my Battelle family ancestors,
some of which i have reservations.
The page at this url, shows different data to what both Tim Powys (re Alan
Lowndes data) and Leo van de Pas's Genealogics site has

The area of difference is in the Thomas Battaille and John Battaille sister
of Alice who married John de Boys and Margaret who married Sir John
Barrington.
This diagram shows John having son Thomas and it was he who married (2)
Elizabeth de Enfield, whereas Tims site says Thomas wassd father of John,
Alice & margaret and Elizabeth de Enfield was his wife.
The age years of people involved don't appear to "add up" very well on any
of the three data compilations.
I would appreciate discussion on differences if anyone is willing to have a
gander at the three and get involved.
Would also appreciate any pointers as to where to get more proof of either
sets of data.

Why not posting both the long URL and the tiny one ?
After some time, either tinyurl will drop old links or the
site with move the files, but usually, in such a site, the
directory is moved but the suffix of the file is usually
kept and once you have one, it is easy to complete other
URLs.

_The Suffolk Bartholomeans : a memoir of the ministerial and domestic
history of John Meadows, Clk., A. M., formerly fellow of Christ's
College, Cambridge, ejected under the act of uniformity from the
rectory of Ousden in Suffolk_ (see http://tinyurl.com/cxvd6 ), pp.
65-67, says:

"From William, Sir Richard Fairfax's eldest son, came two successive
Sir Thomases, the second of whom had for his eldest son Sir Nicholas
Fairfax, from whom sprang the house of the Viscounts Fairfax of Elmly
(an Irish honour); another son of the second Sir Thomas was William,
whose family settled in Norfolk, and whose grandson John was, in 1609,
master of the Great Hospital in Norwich. Benjamin Fairfax, the eldest
son of this John, was minister of Rumburgh, a perpetual curacy, near
Halesworth in Suffolk. At the date of the Act of Uniformity he was of
the advanced age of seventy; and he had, besides many other children
(the eldest of all being Mr. Benjamin Fairfax of Halesworth), two sons,
also in the church, namely, John Fairfax, rector of Barking, and
Nathaniel Fairfax, perpetual curate of Willisham."

As Bartholomew Allerton, son of Isaac1 Allerton of the Mayflower, is
known to have returned to England (Bramfield, Suffolk) and thought to
have married a Sarah Fairfax for his second wife, and as his will was
witnessed by a Benjamin and a Nathaniel Fairfax (see
http://www.mayflowerhistory.com/Primary ... lerton.php
), I wonder if his wife was a relation of these Fairfaxes?

Well, duh. "Sist. Allerton" is actually mentioned on p. 125 of the
same book ...

Has anyone been able to figure out why they were called "Bartholomeans"?

The will of Mrs. Jane Quinby mentions her daughter Mary Godman. Here's
a bit more on Mary Porter, wife of Thomas Godman:
